Plumbing Development Day

The following topics were covered: Expulsion of pipework, measurements, violence, balancing systems, sewage layouts, hanging of toilets, sinks, urinals, basic geysers, quality of work. Practical welding – how to correct violence,  flux and lead. How to prevent leaks. It was very effective.

National HIV Campaign

The Louisvale-weg Clinic visited all the building sites of Kobus Duvenhage Builders (Pty) Ltd, as part of the National HIV Campaign.  Min. Zuma wants everybody in South Africa to know their HIV status.  If a persons HIV status is known, they can get the necessary treatment in order to maintain a better standard of living. The Clinic provide guidance regarding the following: Methods of how HIV is transferred from one person to another; How the HIV test works and how to maintain a healthy standard of living. If the person tests positive, what the treatment should be; volunteers were given the opportunity to be tested during working hours.

2014 as learner plumbers

Gideon Coetzee and Theunis Swart were appointed at Kobus Duvenhage Bouers (Pty) Ltd on the 13th of January 2014 as learner plumbers. Both learners received positive exposure under the guidance of Allan Black. As from the 5th of May 2014 until the 27th of June 2014 the learners received intensive training at PCD College in Pretoria.

Both were successful in the basic and advanced training courses and will now undergo compulsory practical work for the following four years at Kobus Duvenhage Bouers (Pty) Ltd. In June 2018 they will complete their training by writing a trade test and formally qualifying as plumbers.
